Monopoly Live turns a board game into a TV-style show. There is a real host in a studio, a big wheel that gets spun, and a 3D bonus round on the Monopoly board. Evolution made it, and it is one of the better-known live game shows around.
What Monopoly Live is
Monopoly Live is a live dealer casino game, and it grew out of Evolution’s older money wheel game, Dream Catcher. A host runs the show from a studio, spins the wheel, and lets the players bet on where it will stop. Mr. Monopoly pops up on screen through augmented reality and chats with the host. Two industry publications named it the game of the year in 2019 and 2020.
The money wheel
The wheel has 54 segments. Most are numbers, with 22 segments for 1, 15 for 2, seven for 5, and four for 10. The rest are two Chance segments, three 2 Rolls segments, and one 4 Rolls segment. A bet on a number pays that number to one, so a winning bet on 5 pays five to one.
The bonus round
When the wheel stops on 2 Rolls or 4 Rolls, the show moves to a 3D Monopoly board. Only players who bet on that bonus segment take part. Some properties gain houses or hotels before the round, which raises their value. Mr. Monopoly then moves around the board for two or four dice rolls, and each property he lands on pays a prize equal to its value. If he passes GO, all the property values double.
Chance segments
A Chance segment brings out a card from Mr. Monopoly. The card shows either a cash prize or a multiplier. When it is a multiplier, the wheel is spun again to decide a winning number, a bonus round, or another chance.
What to expect
The game is easy to follow because players only choose where the wheel will land. The low numbers come up most often and pay the least. The high ones are rare, so a win on them is less common but it pays more. The return to the player depends on the bet, and the game’s help screen lists it. The game works best as entertainment with a set budget. Some people look at online games as side gigs for cash, but nobody should rely on a game show wheel for income.
Where to play
Licensed online casinos offer live dealer games in the US states where they are legal and that includes New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. And given the rise in online scams, make sure you deposit only on a reliable game platform and one that is licensed in your state. Also check its live lobby for Monopoly Live, since every site picks its own games. Making the deposit and then finding out that the game is unavailable is not what you want.
